Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman women's soccer team will kick off its 2016 season this week when it entertains the Georgia Bulldogs in a 6 p.m. exhibition match on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium on Thursday.

Vanderbilt visits the Furman campus for a preseason tune-up at 6 p.m. on Saturday before the Paladins open regular season play hosting Coastal Carolina on Friday, August 19, at 7 p.m.

The Paladins return seven starters from a 2015 squad that captured the Southern Conference Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the past three seasons. Furman finished with a 17-5-1 record and claimed second place in the SoCon regular season standings with a 7-1-1 league mark.

Highlighting Furman's list of returnees is first team All-SoCon choice Carlie Couch. The senior forward from Tifton, Ga., netted six goals and added one assist in 2015. The Paladins also welcome back redshirt senior goalkeeper Rose Hull. The 2012 All-SoCon selection, who has 19 career shutouts to her credit, received an extra year of eligibility after being lost to a knee injury versus Auburn last August. Sophomore Amani Bright, a 2015 SoCon All-Freshman selection, also returns to help anchor Furman's back line.
