Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's soccer team caps its three-match, season opening homestand when it hosts the Southeastern Conference's Mississippi State Bulldogs on Thursday on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
The Paladins enter the match at 1-1-0 after downing Georgia State, 1-0, in the season opener last Friday and falling to Auburn, 2-1, on Sunday at Stone Stadium. Junior Stephanie DeVita delivered the victory versus the Panthers by converting from the penalty spot in the 99th minute for her 35th career goal. Senior Hannah Stanifer's long range blast provided the only Furman goal in Sunday's defeat versus Auburn.
Furman holds a 2-0-0 all-time record versus Mississippi State, including a 4-0 victory over the Bulldogs last season in Starkville, Miss. DeVita scored a pair of goals in the victory and India Robinson notched three assists.
The Bulldogs come to Greenville with an 0-2-0 record after dropping a 5-1 decision to Iowa State and falling 1-0 to Cincinnati last weekend.
Admission to Thursday's game is $3 for adults and $1 for children. Furman students receive free admission with a valid student ID.
The match will be streamed live as part of the SoCon Digital Network and will be available for free at FurmanPaladins.com. The Paladins' official website will also provide live statistics through Stat Broadcast.
