Greenville, S.C. – Furman senior Abby Shields has been named the SoCon Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Month for April, it was announced today by the conference. The voting is conducted within the league office.
Shields tallied 16 goals and 17 assists last month, for 33 points, while also adding 19 groundballs. She scored in six of seven contests in the month of April, helping lead the Paladins to a 6-1 record. The Vero Beach, Fla., native scored at least two goals in all six games and tallied four or more assists three times. She tied her own school record at the time (since broken by Hannah Demis) with five assists against Howard and tallied seven points in the final two games of the season. The team captain was also twice named SoCon offensive Player of the Week in April.
Furman is back in action on Saturday, matching up with Mercer in the 2019 Southern Conference Championship game, held inside Paladin Stadium.
