Fort Myers, Fla. -- Freshman Alexa Rancourt (70-71-71=212) carded a final round 71 to lead the Furman women’s golf team (290-288-292=870) to the team title at the 32nd annual Pat Bradley Women’s Golf Championship at the par-72 Pelican Preserve Golf and Country Club in Fort Myers, Fla., on Tuesday.

The victory marked Furman’s first in a regular season tournament since claiming the Lady Paladin Invitational title in 2005. The Paladins took first place at the Southern Conference Women’s Championship in both 2008 and 2009.

“I’m very proud of this team,” said Furman coach Jen Hanna. “They put in a lot of work throughout the fall season and its good for them to see that work pay off this week. It was a nice rebound for us after struggling last week at the Mercedes-Benz.”

Furman, which shot four-over 292 on Tuesday, finished seven strokes ahead of second place South Florida and nine strokes in front of UCF. Host Florida International placed fourth and Missouri State and North Texas tied for fifth place. Stetson, Drake, Daytona State College and Florida Gulf Coast rounded out the top 10 in the 15-team event.

Rancourt, a native of Portland, Maine, birdied her final three holes to earn third place and finish the 54-hole tournament at four-under par. Junior Stefanie Kenoyer (71-72-74=217) finished in a tie for sixth place at one-over after a final round 74. Paladin sophomore Liz Wendt (74-75-73=222) climbed to a 15th place finish on the strength of a final round 73.

South Florida’s Shena Yang (68-68-72=208) took individual medalist honors at eight-under. She finished three strokes ahead of second place Valentina Fontaine (69-69-71=211) of UCF and four stroke in front of Rancourt.
