Fort Myers, Fla. -- Freshman Alexa Rancourt (70-71=141) notched 11 birdies over 36 holes on Monday to grab third place and help Furman (290-288=578) into the lead after two rounds at the 32nd annual Pat Bradley Women’s Golf Championship at the par-72 Pelican Preserve Golf and Country Club in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Paladins hold a two-stroke advantage over UCF (292-288=580) and three-stroke lead over the University of South Florida (290-291=581) through two rounds. Host Florida International (284-298=582) and Stetson (292-297=589) rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Rancourt, a native of Portland, Maine, began Monday with seven birdies to notch a two-under par 70 in the opening round. In round two on Monday afternoon, she birdied four holes to shoot 71. The freshman trails tournament leader Shena Yang (68-68=136) of the USF by five strokes and second place Valentina Fontaine (69-71=140) of UCF by one stroke with 18 holes left to play.
Furman junior Stefanie Kenoyer (71-72=143) played the first 36 holes at one-under 143 to share sixth place while fellow junior Jackie Hilea (75-70=145) used a second round 70 to move into a tie for 12th place.
