Athens, Ga. -- Furman’s Stefanie Kenoyer posted a final round 73 to finish with a share of ninth place at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the par-72 University of Georgia Golf Course on Sunday.
A Lighthouse Point, Fla., native, Kenoyer (78-75-73=226) birdied two holes on both the front nine and back nine to total her best round of the tournament and move into the top 10 during the final round of the 54-hole event. Freshman Laura Wearn (83-81-75=239) also finished strong with a final round two-over 75, but Furman struggled to a 19th place finish.
The Paladins (323-319-309=951) played with just four players due to Jackie Hilea withdrawing from the final round due to an injury.
Duke’s Lindy Duncan (70-72-71=213) cruised to individual medalist honors by an eight-stroke margin over teammate Stacy Kim (76-75-70=221) and helped the Blue Devils (300-300-289=889) claim the team title by finishing 21 strokes ahead of second place Alabama. Arkansas, Purdue and Auburn rounded out the top five in a 23-team field that included 20 schools ranked in the top 50 nationally.
Furman returns to action April 10-11, at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
