Athens, Ga. -- Junior Stefanie Kenoyer posted a six-over 78 on Friday to lead Furman to an opening round 323 and 18th place at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the par-72 University of Georgia Golf Course.
Kenoyer, a native of Lighthouse Point, Fla., birdied two of her final five holes to rally for a 78 while sophomore Liz Wendt moved into a share of 32nd with a first round 79.
Duke grabbed the first round lead with a 12-over par 300. The Blue Devils hold a 10-stroke lead over North Carolina, Purdue and Auburn who are in a three-way tie for second place after each shot a 310 on Friday.
Duke’s Lindy Duncan fired a two-under 70 to hold a four-stroke lead on the field following round one.
Second round play is set for Saturday morning with final round action scheduled for Sunday.
