Srinivasan Ties For Third To Lead Furman In Opening Day Of ANNIKA Intercollegiate

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Sophomore Natalie Srinivasan (-2) fired an opening round 70 to tie for third to lead the Furman women's golf team (-5) Sunday in cold and rainy conditions in the opening round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate at the par 72, 6,288 yard Olympic Hills Golf Club in Eden Prairie Minn.  The tournament, which features 12 of the top Division I women's programs in the country,  is co-founded by Annika Sorenstam's ANNIKA Foundation and Golfweek.

Srinivasan, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., posted a team-high six birdies on Sunday, with consecutive birdies on No. 4 and No. 5 and again on No. 15 and No. 16, to finish the round at two-under, just two strokes back of leaders Robynn Ree (-4) of Southern California and Mika Liu (-4) of Stanford,  who each carded an opening round 68.

Junior Haylee Harford (+3) and senior Reona Hirai (+3) are tied for 22nd after each scored a three-over 75 to open the tournament.  Hirai recorded birdies on No. 5 and No. 9, while Harford added a birdie on No. 13.  Senior Alice Chen (+8) scored an 80 with a birdie on No. 5 to tie for 49th on Sunday, and senior Jacqueline Bendrick (+9) is tied for 55th after notching birdies on No. 1 and No. 15 to card an 81.

Arkansas (E), who finished last season ranked 15th, leads the field after scoring an even 288 on Sunday.  South Carolina (+3) is second, followed by Stanford (+6) in third.  UCLA (+7) sits in fourth after one round, and Southern California (+11) is fifth.  Furman (+12) and Texas (+12) are just one stroke back in a tie for sixth.  

The second round of the 54-hole tournament will begin at 9 a.m. CT on Monday, with final round play slated for Tuesday at 9 a.m. CT.  Furman will tee off of No. 10 beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday and will play in a group with Florida State and Baylor.  Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via and
