OXFORD, MISS. -- Freshman Taylor Totland (+3) fired a career-best 69 to tie for 14th place to lead the Furman women's golf team in the final round of the Ole Miss Rebel Invitational Saturday at the par 72, 6,313 yard Ole Miss Golf Course in Oxford, Miss.  Due to predicted inclement weather in the Oxford area on Sunday, the teams played 36 holes on Saturday to complete the tournament.

Totland, a native of Tinton Falls, N.J., registered three consecutive birdies on No. 13 through 15 during Saturday's final round to finish the tournament nine strokes back of GRU Augusta's Jessica Haigwood, who garnered individual medalist honors after shooting 71-70-69=210, the third-lowest 54-hole individual score in the tournament's history.

Sophomore Stephanie Carlozzi (+5) recorded two birdies on the back nine to score a 74 in the second round then birdied No. 7 and No. 17 for a final-round 73 to tie for 20th place.  Sophomore Valentina Romero (+9) birdied one hole in each of Saturday's rounds for a 75 in the morning and a 77 in the afternoon round, finishing in a tie for 39th-place.

Junior Laura DeMarco (+10) carded a 75 in each of Saturday's rounds with two birdies in the morning round to tie for 46th place, while senior Aubrie Street (+20) tied for 80th place after shooting a 76 in the tournament's final round.

"We had a long day today, but the girls really hung in there," said Furman head coach Kelley Hester following the day's play.  "Taylor notched her best round of the season with a solid 69, but I was proud of our entire team.  Ten hours on the golf course is a long day, and we were able to finish strong."

#32 GRU Augusta (+7) won the tournament with a score of 871, the second-lowest 54-hole total in tournament history.  Kennesaw State (+10) was second, while #33 Tulane (+12) and Texas State (+12) tied for third.  The Paladins (+26) carded a 293 in Saturday's final round, the team's best round of the spring, to finish the tournament in ninth.

Furman will compete at the Southern Conference Championship April 13-15 in Hilton Head, S.C.
