Rancourt Remains In Contention At SoCon Championship, Furman In Fourth Place

Hilton Head Island, S.C. – Furman's Alexa Rancourt (+7) posted a five-over 77 on Monday to hold a share of second place after two rounds in the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship at the par-72 Moss Creek Club North Course.  The Paladins (+57) slipped to fourth place after a 34-over 322.

Rancourt (74-77=151) is tied for second place with Chattanooga's Maria Juliana Loza (+7) and is three strokes off of the 36-hole lead held by the Lady Mocs' Jordan Britt (+4).  A junior from Portland, Maine, Rancourt rebounded from a bogey and double bogey on her first two holes to notch a birdie at No. 3.  She added a second birdie at No. 11 before bogeying two of her final three holes.

UNCG (+40) shot 22-over 310 on Monday to maintain a four-stroke lead over second place Chattanooga (+44) and 15-stroke lead over College of Charleston (+55) entering Tuesday's final round.  Furman (+57) and Samford (+60) rounded out the top five.

Final round play is slated to begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday with the tournament champion set to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA regionals
