Valdosta, Ga. – Furman's Laura Wearn (74-72=146) fired a one-under 72 on Monday to grab a share of the lead at even par after two rounds at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge at the par-73 Kinderlou Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga.
Wearn, a Charlotte, N.C., native, notched a birdie at No. 2 and answered a bogey on the back nine with a birdie at the par-three, No. 17 to post the fourth best round of the day. The Sophomore is tied for the lead with Charlotte Guilleux (75-71=146) of Georgia State and Casey Kennedy (72-74=146) of Augusta State after 36 holes.
The Paladins (306-312=618), tied for fourth after opening round play, dropped to seventh place after shooting 20-over 312 on Monday. Coastal Carolina (303-297=600) holds a six-stroke tournament lead over second place Chattanooga (305-301=606) while Florida State, East Carolina and Augusta State round out the top five in the 14-team field.
Final round action in the 54-hole tournament is set to begin on Tuesday morning.
