Greensboro, Ga. -- Furman junior and Greenville, S.C., native Austin Reeves (71-74-71=216) claimed a share of fourth place with a final round one-under 71 while helping Furman to a sixth place finish on Sunday at the Linger Longer Invitational at the par-72 Reynolds Landing Tradition Course in Greensboro, Ga.
Reeves got out of the gates fast recording birdies on five of his first six holes and fired a four-under 32 on the front nine to finish at even-par for the tournament. He finished 12 strokes behind individual medalist Bud Cauley (64-73-67=204) of Arkansas. Kevin Tway (73-70-67=210) and Sean Einhaus (70-70-74=214) of Oklahoma State finished second and third, respectively.
Tway and Einhaus guided the Cowboys of Oklahoma State (293-286-286=865) to a two-stroke victory over Alabama. Texas A&M, Georgia and Georgia Tech rounded out the top five ahead of sixth place Furman. The 16-team field included six top 25 teams and eight top 50 teams.
Furman also got strong third round performances from Daniel Bowden (75-75-72=222), who carded an even-par 72, and fellow senior Garland Ferrell (73-79-74=226) who posted a two-over 74 on Sunday. Bowden and Anthony Aloi (74-71-77=222) shared 22nd place at six over par.
Furman will take a couple of weeks off before competing for the Southern Conference championship April 18-20, at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C.
