Greensboro, Ga. -- Anthony Aloi posted a one-under 71 on Saturday to climb into fifth place and help Furman remain in contention in fourth place after two rounds at the Linger Longer Invitational at the par-72 Reynolds Landing.
Aloi, who carded a first 74 on Friday, birdied five holes to shoot a 71 in round two despite a double bogey on No. 18. Teammate Austin Reeves (71-74=145) also grabbed a share of fifth place with a second round 74 to move to one-over for the tournament. Senior Daniel Bowden (75-75=150), in 20th place, fired a three-over 75 for the second straight day.
The Paladins (293-299=592), co-leaders after round one, trail first place Oklahoma State by 13 strokes and second place Alabama by five strokes entering Sunday’s final round. Third place Texas A&M is 11 strokes back of the leader in a field that includes six of the top 25 teams in the country.
Alabama’s Bud Cauley (64-73=137) holds a three-stroke lead through 36 holds after blistering the field with a first round 64 on Friday.
Final round action is slated to begin on Sunday morning.The Paladins will begin teeing off at 8:40 a.m.
