Furman Finishes Sixth At Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate

Aiken, S.C. -- Senior Garland Ferrell (70-70-73=213) notched a final round 73 to secure a share of ninth place, but Furman faded to sixth at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the par-70 Palmetto Golf Club.

Furman (281-288-303=872) shot a final round 303 to finish in a tie with Georgia Southern (291-285-296=872), 17 strokes behind tournament winners Chattanooga (285-277-293=855). Clemson (288-293-291=862) claimed second place with East Carolina (295-284-289=868), Liberty (283-283-303=869) and Virginia (294-279-298=871) rounding out the top five in the 18-team field.

Ferrell finished eight strokes behind individual medalist Ben Kohles (70-63-72=205) of Virginia who completed 54 holes at five-under par. Furman’s Daniel Bowden (69-72-74=215) claimed a share of 12th place at five-over after a four-over 74 on Tuesday morning.

The Paladins return home to the Furman University Golf Course to host the Furman Intercollegiate March 19-21.
