Bruns & Harper Tie For 21st To Lead Paladins In Opening Day Of Camden Collegiate Invitational

CAMDEN, S.C. -- Junior Connor Bruns (+2) and sophomore Keller Harper (+2) are tied for 21st to lead the Furman men's golf team following two rounds of play Saturday at the Camden Collegiate Invitational at the par 70, 6,455 yard Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C.

Bruns, a native of Duncan, S.C., carded a 71 in both rounds on Saturday, notching three birdies in the first round and adding five birdies in round two.  Harper, who hails from Atlanta, Ga., fired an even 70 with three birdies in the morning and scored a 72 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 13 in round two.  The Paladin duo is seven strokes back of leader Shota Ozaki (-5) of James Madison who leads the field with a 69-66=135.

Sophomore Matt Lehman (E) eagled the par-5 No. 7 and added three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 13 and No. 14, for an opening round 73.  In the afternoon, Lehman scored a 72 with three birdies to tie for 36th.  Sophomore Jake Reilly (+6) is tied for 40th entering Sunday's final round after scoring a 76 with two birdies in the first round and an even 70 with five birdies, including back-to-back birdies on No. 7 and No. 8 in round two.  Sophomore Scott Purvis (+10) recorded three birdies and a 79 in round one and a 71 with three additional birdies in the second round to tie for 60th.  

Host South Carolina (-11) holds an 11-stroke lead over James Madison (E).  Elon (+3) sits in third following two rounds of play, while Francis Marion (+8) is in fourth.  USC Aiken (+10) completes the top five, and Lamar (+13) is in sixth, just one stroke ahead of the seventh-place Paladins (+14).

The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Sunday, with teams teeing off of No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 8 a.m. The Paladins will tee off of No. 1 beginning at 8:40 a.m. and will play in a group with Francis Marion and USC Aiken.  Admission is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via and
