GREENVILLE, S.C. --  The Furman men's golf team will complete the 2014 fall season this weekend at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate at the par 71, 6,767 yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley in Cashiers, N.C.

Due to unfavorable weather forecasts predicting wintry weather for Western North Carolina beginning Friday night into Saturday, the tournament's format has been changed to allow format for safe playing conditions and to preserve the condition of the course.

The 36-hole event was originally slated to be spread over Saturday and Sunday; now, however, play will be split between Friday and Sunday with Saturday held as an off-day due to the weather.  Friday's opening round will begin with a shotgun start at 12:45 p.m.  Round two tee times will begin Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and continue in 12-minute increments, pending a frost delay.

Furman will be joined in the 12-team field by Brevard, Bucknell, Cardinal Stritch, Clemson, Colgate, Guilford, Marshall, Samford, Western Carolina, Wingate, and Wofford. Duke will have four individuals competing in the tournament, for a total of 75 golfers in the field

The Paladins' lineup for the tournament includes senior Michael Borton, juniors Wehman Hopke, Preston Heyward, and Preston Cole, plus sophomore Bryce Howell.  Freshman Hunter Nichols will compete as an individual.

Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome.
