Furman Third, Preston Cole Fourth At Camden Collegiate Invitational

CAMDEN, S.C. -- Junior Preston Cole (-1) fired a 67 Sunday to lead the Furman men's golf team (+25) to a third-place finish at the Camden Collegiate Invitational at the par 70, 7,242 yard Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C. 

Cole, who recorded five birdies on the day including back-to-back birdies on No. 1 and No. 2, finished Sunday's play eight strokes back of Brannan Hudson (-9) of Wofford, who claimed individual medalist honors after shooting a 67-63-71 for a three-round total of 201.

Paladin sophomore Bryce Howell (+2) birdied No. 6 to card a 71 on Sunday and finish in ninth place.  Junior Wehman Hopke (+12) scored one birdie on the front and one on the back to tie for 32nd, while junior Preston Heyward (+14) birdied No. 9 and tied for 47th.  Freshman Hunter Nichols (+20) notched three birdies in Sunday's final round, tying for 64th.

South Carolina (+7) scored a final-round 275 to win the tournament by one stroke over Wofford (+8), while Furman (+25) finished third, two strokes head of Charleston Southern (+27).  Radford (+32) rounded out the top five teams at the tournament.

Furman will conclude the 2014 fall season Nov. 1-2 at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate in Cashiers, N.C.
