Aiken, S.C. – Seniors Matt Brown and Anthony Aloi each notched a final round 76 to lead Furman to a 12th place finish on Tuesday in the 16th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate at the par-70 Palmetto Golf Club.
Brown, a native of Brookeville, Md., claimed a share of 42nd place at 15-over par. Freshmen Preston Cole and Wehman Hopke concluded the 54-hole tournament with a seven-over 77 to share 45th place at 16-over par.
Augusta State (+16) shot a two-over 282 in the final round to finish seven strokes ahead of second place South Carolina (+23). Clemson (+24) and North Carolina State (+24) shared third place with Liberty (+28) capturing fifth. The Paladins (+60) finished in a tie for 12th place after shooting a 306 in Tuesday's final round.
USC Aiken's Matt Atkins (-4) carded an even par 70 on Tuesday to take individual medalist honors at 4-under.
The Paladins return home to host the Furman Intercollegiate at the Furman University Golf Course March 22-24.
