Khyle Marshall

Khyle Marshall joined the Furman family in the summer of 2024 after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at South Dakota State.

“We are thrilled to announce the hiring of Khyle Marshall as an assistant coach,” said Richey, who is entering his eighth season as Furman’s head coach. “Khyle has an unbelievable pedigree as both a player and coach with his unique experiences of playing in the national championship game as a player and coaching in multiple NCAA Tournaments. He will impact our program immediately with his detailed player development, ability to create relationships, and recruiting ties.”

In his first season with the Jackrabbits in 2021-22, Marshall helped SDSU to one of the most successful seasons in Summit League history as the Jackrabbits fashioned a 30-5 overall record, including an 18-0 mark in conference play. SDSU, winners versus North Dakota State in the tournament finals before falling 66-57 to Providence in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, finished the year leading NCAA Division I in three-point percentage (44.5%) while finishing second in the nation in field goal percentage (52.1%) and scoring offense (85.9 ppg).

The Jackrabbits continued their success in 2022-23 with a second-place finish in the Summit League standings. Marshall assisted in one of SDSU's best seasons defensively and helped mentor SDSU's frontcourt that featured second team All-Summit League performer Matt Dentlinger and Summit League All-Newcomer Team selection William Kyle III. During Marshall’s final season in Brookings, S.D., SDSU compiled a 22-13 record and 12-4 league mark, claimed Summit League regular season and tournament titles, and secured its second NCAA Tournament appearance in three seasons.

Prior to his arrival at South Dakota State, Marshall served as an assistant coach at Florida Southwestern College, as video coordinator for Florida Gulf Coast, and as director of scouting at Illinois-Chicago. He started 89 games during his four-year playing career at Butler, averaging 9.8 points per game. Marshall was a part of 91 wins and played in eight NCAA Tournament contests with the Bulldogs, including the 2011 National Championship game. He finished his career with 1,373 points and 609 rebounds while shooting 54.2 percent.

Following his standout collegiate career, Marshall spent four years playing professionally in Japan, the Dominican Republic, Spain, and Portugal. He posted double figure scoring averages each season before retiring to enter the coaching ranks.

Marshall and his wife, Olivia, are the parents of a daughter, Ava.
