Greenville, S.C. - Furman volleyball head coach Michelle Young announced today the signing of three players to national letters of intent.

Christina Dorismond, a middle blocker from Cary, N.C., was a two-time all-conference selection after leading her Cardinal Gibbons High team to two state championships. Her .547 hitting percentage ranks as the second-highest in Cardinal Gibbons History. She was chosen as the team's captain and co-MVP and was honored as a Scholar Athlete. Dorismond is a member of the National Honor Society and is a 2010 National Achievement Scholarship Program Semifinalist.

Amanda Komisarow, an outside hitter from Atlanta, Ga., was chosen the 2009 Gwinnett Daily Post Volleyball Player of the Year. A two-time area player of the year, she led the Greater Atlanta Christian School to a 31-7 record in 2009 and the area championship in both 2008 and 2009. Komisarow was a three-time all-county first team selection and a two-time County Scholar Athlete. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a Commended National Merit Scholar.

Sarah McCarthy is a setter from Villa Park, Ill. An all-area selection as a junior and senior, she led her 1st Alliance Volleyball Club to a second-place finish at the JVDA National Championships. McCarthy was a four-year varsity starter at Willowbrook High and set the school's all-time record for assists. She was a two-time all conference selection and a member of the academic all-conference team and was chosen the Chicago Tribune Athlete of the Month.

We are really excited about this class because these three ladies are not only great people, but they are a great fit for our program both athletically and academically, said Young. Even though we return a tremendous amount of talent, these recruits will come in and compete for playing time early on next season.

The Paladins finished the 2009 season with a 26-4 overall record and a perfect 16-0 league record. This marked the first time in the history of Furman volleyball that the Paladins went undefeated in the league, and the team's 26 wins were the most for a Paladin volleyball team since 1996, when Furman also posted 26 wins. Furman put together a 19-match winning streak during the 2009 season, the longest in Paladin volleyball history.
