Palazzo Named SoCon Player of the Week

Greenville, S.C. - The Southern Conference announced on Monday that Furman's Nicole Palazzo has been named the Molten Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of October 2.
Palazzo, a sophomore middle blocker from Grayson, Ga., helped Furman to a 2-1 record last week in conference play. She recorded nine kills and a .375 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over Wofford on Tuesday. She then hit for .600 and tallied nine kills in the 3-0 victory over The Citadel on Friday. In a close battle against College of Charleston on Saturday, Palazzo notched 10 kills and nine blocks, including one solo, in the 3-1 loss to the Cougars.
On the week, Palazzo tallied 32 kills, averaged .424 in hitting and had 15 blocks. She ranks first in the league in hitting percentage with a .384 mark, and holds a .048 lead in that category. She also ranks second in the conference with 1.35 blocks per game.
In conference games only, Palazzo tops the league marks in hitting percentage (.445) and blocks per game (1.58).
Furman returns to action this weekend as the Paladins travel to face Davidson on Friday night. The Paladins then face Appalachian State on the road on Saturday afternoon.
