CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Paladin volleyball team fell 3-1 to the UNC Greensboro Spartans in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament Friday, in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Paladins won the first game 30-28, but dropped the second 32-30. After the break, the Spartans rallied to take game three 30-24. The Paladins tried to fight back in the fourth, but UNC Greensboro finished the match with a score of 30-28.

Greensboro was led by sophomore outside hitter Branagan Fuller, who recorded 20 kills on 54 attempts for the Lady Spartans. Libero Catherine Hanners led the defense with 27 digs.

Senior outside hitter Chibuzo Aguocha led three Paladins in double-digit kills with 20, while junior outside Alison West added 19 and junior middle blocker Nicole Palazzo contributed 15. Aguocha and West also recorded double-doubles for the match, with 11 and 14 digs, respectively. Palazzo led the team with a .433 hitting percentage, recording only 2 errors during the match.

Senior setter Courtney Stewardson recorded a great final performance for the Paladins, leading the team in digs with 14, and recording a double-double with 61 assists. She also added 4 kills and one service ace. Senior Kerry Wooten added 9 kills and a .389 attack percentage for the Paladins.

The Paladins end the season with a 20-9 record and a 13-6 conference record.
