Furman Volleyball Sweeps Chattanooga 3-0

Chattanooga, Tenn. - Chibuzo Aguocha recorded 23 kills and added 13 digs as Furman defeated Chattanooga 3-0 (30-28, 30-26, 30-23) on Saturday afternoon.

Furman has now won nine of its last 10 matches, with all nine victories coming by a 3-0 margin.

Aguocha's double-double was her 11th of the season. The junior from Houston, Texas had only 10 career double-doubles coming into the season.

Nicole Palazzo tallied 12 kills against just one hitting error in 26 total attempts. The Southern Conference leader in hitting percentage recorded a .423 clip for the match.

Three Paladins recorded double-figures in digs, led by Kim Tonkin's 22 defensive saves. Aguocha added 13 and Whitney Purser tallied 10. Aguocha and Kerry Wooten each recorded four total blocks, and Courtney Stewardson tallied 44 set assists.

Leslee Ball led the way for Chattanooga with 13 kills. Lara Newberry tallied 17 digs, and Michaela Huff added 30 set assists for the Lady Mocs.

With the win, Furman improves to 18-10 on the season, 14-3 in the Southern Conference. Chattanooga falls to 11-19 on the season, 9-8 in conference action. Furman returns to action on Sunday afternoon as the Paladins travel to face Western Carolina in it regular season finale.
