Furman Volleyball Sweeps Chattanooga, 3-0

Greenville, S.C. - Three Paladins reached double-figures in digs, and Furman recorded 13 total blocks on the way to a 3-0 (30-25, 30-27, 30-24) win over Chattanooga at Lyles Alley Gymnasium on Saturday night.

Stephanie Smith recorded 22 digs, and Whitney Purser and Ally Hock added 13 and 11, respectively for the Paladins. Kerry Wooten and Nicole Palazzo each tallied six total blocks, while Hock contributed five blocks to lead a solid defensive effort.

Palazzo led the way for Furman with 11 kills, and Purser, Wooten, Hock, and Alison West each added seven kills apiece. Hock now has 993 career kills, and needs just seven more to become the 14th player in Furman history with 1,000 career kills. Courtney Stewardson recorded 35 set assists and added four service aces.

Leslee Ball recorded a game-high 13 kills to pace Chattanooga. Kelsey Amundson tied for the game-high with 22 defensive saves.

With the win, Furman improves to 11-9 overall, 7-2 in the Southern Conference. Chattanooga falls to 7-13 on the season, 5-3 in conference action. Furman returns to action on Sunday afternoon as the Paladins entertain Western Carolina at Alley Gym at 2 p.m.
