Furman Volleyball Drops Davidson 3-1

Davidson, N.C. - Kerry Wooten recorded 18 kills, and four Paladins reached double-figures in kills as Furman defeated Davidson 3-1 (30-23, 22-30, 30-22, 30-24) on Friday night.
Wooten, a junior from Hamptonville, N.C., tallied 18 kills, while Chibuzo Aguocha added 17 kills, and Nicole Palazzo and Ally Hock recorded 15 and 10 kills, respectively. Wooten also added four service aces for the Paladins.
Palazzo, the Southern Conference leader in hitting percentage, recorded 15 kills with just two errors on 22 total attempts for a .591 average. She also tallied four total blocks for Furman.
Courtney Stewardson recorded 58 set assists, and Stephanie Smith tallied a game-high 15 defensive digs. Aguocha (10) and Whitney Purser (14) also reached double-digits in digs for Furman.
Katie Pierucci recorded a team-high 17 kills for Davidson. Kittery Neale tallied a game-high seven total blocks (two solo).
With the win, Furman improves to 9-8 overall, 5-1 in the Southern Conference. Davidson falls to 10-10 on the season, 2-3 in conference play. Furman returns to action on Saturday as the Paladins travel to face Appalachian State.
