The Furman volleyball team bounced back from their first SoCon loss of the season last weekend to defeat Davidson in four games tonight.
The Paladins started out slow, hitting only .077 as a team during the first game, which allowed the Wildcats to take the game 30-28, despite a late run by Furman.
In game two, Furman stepped up its offense, tallying 23 kills and only 1 error for a team hitting percentage of .611, enabling them to take the game by a score of 30-23.
The third game was again close, with several ties and lead changes throughout. Furman ultimately won the battle 30-28.
In the fourth game, Furman again out-hit the Wildcats to take the game 30-23 and finish the match.
Davidson was led by Katie Pierucci's 24 kills and 22 digs, while libero Lindsey Woeste added 15 digs.
Two Paladins posted double-digit kills, with junior Alison West leading the way with 24, and senior Chibuzo Aguocha close behind with 23. West added 11 digs and 3 aces for another double-double, while Aguocha contributed 13 digs and 2 solo blocks to the winning effort.
Furman will take the court again this weekend for a 2-match home stand against Chattanooga and Western Carolina, beginning Friday at 7:00 p.m.
