Furman Volleyball Sweeps The Citadel 3-0

Charleston, S.C. - The Furman volleyball team swept The Citadel 3-0 on Friday night at McAlister Fieldhouse. The Paladins recorded a .379 hitting percentage and commited only 11 hiting errors.

Furman was led by middle hitters Nicole Palazzo and Kerry Wooten, who each recorded 13 kills on the night. Wooten also added six total blocks (one solo) and one service ace, while Palazzo, the conference leader in hitting percentage, commited just one hitting error on her way to a .600 (13-1-20) hitting percentage.

Kelsey Salava recorded 28 set assists, and Kim Tonkin and Chibuzo Aguocha each tallied three service aces. Stephanie Smith had a game-high 15 defensive saves.

The Citadel was led by Rachel Sanders with six kills on the night. Kim Cooper led the Bulldogs with 10 digs.

With the win, Furman improves to 8-7 overall, 4-0 in the Southern Conference. The Citadel falls to 5-12 on the season, 0-5 in conference action. Furman returns to action tomorrow as the Paladins face College of Charleston at 2 p.m. A College of Charleston win tonight over Wofford means that tomorrow's matchup will feature the final two teams that are undefeated in conference play.
