Furman Volleyball Rallies to Defeat Georgia Southern 3-1

Greenville, S.C. - Nicole Palazzo recorded 14 kills and added seven total blocks as Furman rallied from a one-game deficit to down Georgia Southern 3-1 (22-30, 30-25, 30-19, 30-27) on Saturday afternoon at Alley Gym.

Palazzo, a sophomore from Grayson, Ga. and the Southern Conference leader in hitting percentage, hit at a .435 (14-4-23) clip and recorded one solo block and six block assists.

Chibuzo Aguocha and Ally Hock both reached double-figures in kills, with 13 and 10, respectively. Kerry Wooten led Furman with nine total blocks. Stephanie Smith, Courtney Stewardson and Whitney Purser each recorded double-digit digs.

Georgia Southern was led by Gorana Bacic with 14 kills. Staci Anderson added 15 kills for the Eagles, and Jennifer Charles contributed four total blocks.

With the win, Furman improves to 6-7 overall, 2-0 in the Southern Conference. Georgia Southern drops to 6-3 on the season, 0-1 in conference play.

Furman returns to action on Tuesday with a midweek trip to Wofford at 7:00 p.m.
