Furman Falls to Georgia in Final Game of Georgia Bulldog Invitational

Athens, Ga. – The Furman volleyball team fell to tournament-host Georgia, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-15) in the final game of the Georgia Bulldog Invitational Saturday night in Athens, Ga. The Paladins finished the season-opening tournament 0-3.

Freshman Annie Bierman paced the Paladins with nine kills and 11 digs. Andrea Fisher recorded eight kills, eight digs and three blocks, while Jo Wilks tallied 27 assists.

The teams traded points in the first set until, with the score tied at 13, Georgia went on a 7-1 run to take a 20-14 lead, a deficit the Paladins could not overcome. Georgia took the set, 25-17.

Set two was close from the opening point, with the teams trading points until 22-22. Georgia closed the set with three-straight points, however, to take set two, 25-22.

Set three saw the Bulldogs jump out to an 18-10 lead and hold the lead throughout, taking set three 25-15.

The Paladins will travel to Johnson City, Tenn. to take on East Tennessee State on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
