Women's Tennis Posts Successful Record at UNC Charlotte Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Furman Lady Paladin tennis team had a successful opening day at the UNC Charlotte Invitational on Friday, dropping only one singles match for the day.

In singles competition against Georgia State, senior Lauren Osborne fell to Martina Nitkova 6-1, 6-4. Freshman Monica Arguello defeated Dariana Kozmina in a close match, 6-2, 3-6, 10-7. Freshman Jessica Preeg won over Mateja Podgorsek 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 10-3, and junior Lauren Tomory beat Kiera Strickland 6-0, 6-1 to finish singles play for the Lady Paladins.

In doubles competition, the Lady Paladins went undefeated for the day, with the team of Osborne/Tomory besting Kozmina/Podgorsek 8-6, and Arguello/Manojlovic defeating Nitkova/Strickland 9-8 (7-5).

The Lady Paladins continue play in the UNC Charlotte Invitational on Saturday.
