PACIFIC PALISADES, CA -- Furman women's tennis player Monica Arguello lost a 6-3, 6-2 match to Lutflana Budiharto of Wichita State on Thursday to conclude her competition in the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Arguello, a junior from Lakeland, Fla., made her first appearance in the tournament after being ranked #64 in the ITA National Preseason Rankings. A junior from Lakeland, Fla., she was named to the All-Southern Conference first team for both singles and doubles last season..
At this week's tournament, the nation's top collegiate tennis players are competing in the ITA's first national event of the 2009-10 season. The qualifying draw, which began on Tuesday, featured 64 players. The main draw, which begins tomorrow, features 32 players.
