Vanderbilt Captures Three Singles Titles On Final Day Of Furman Fall Classic

Greenville, SC - The Commodores of Vanderbilt continued their success in singles Sunday, taking home three flight championships on the final day of the Furman Fall Classic at the Mickel Tennis Center. In flight one Taka Bertrand defeated Penn States Sasha Abraham 6-2, 6-0, while in flight five Maggie Yahnar downed Lady Vol Stephanie Harris 6-2, 6-3. Vandy's third win was in flight six where Caroline Ferrell won 6-4, 6-0 over Furman's Jacqueline Eckert.

Clemson also had a successful day winning two flight championships of their own. Frederica van Adrichem took home the flight two championship with a 3-6, 7-6(3), 7-5 victory over South Carolina's Gira Schofield and in flight three Maria Brito rolled by Lady Gamecock Natasa Vuckovic 6-0, 6-0. Tennessee picked up the final championship with Bryce Marable downing Lady Paladin Shannon Moore 6-1, 6-4 in flight four.

The host Lady Paladins picked up three victories on the day. In flight one freshman Laura Gioia defeated Austin Smith 6-2, 6-4 and in flight five Bonnie Baird hit her way past South Carolina's Grace Blakely 6-4, 6-2. Furman's third victory came in flight six where Natasa Manojlovic defeated Penn State's Leyla Morzan 7-5, 6-4.
