Furman Women's Tennis To Host Fall Classic This Weekend

Greenville, SC - Seven teams ranked in the top 75 at the conclusion of the 2005 season and six individuals ranked in the 2005-06 pre-season top 75 will highlight the field at the 19th annual Furman Fall Classic women's tennis tournament, slated for this weekend at the Mickel Tennis Center on the campus of Furman University.
The Classic, which includes players from Furman, Clemson, North Carolina, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Wisconsin, consists of seven singles flights and four doubles flights.
Play on Friday will include two rounds of doubles and one round of singles.
The doubles championships will take place on Saturday, while the singles finals will occur on Sunday.
This year's Fall Classic field could be one of the strongest ever with seven schools nationally ranked at the end of the 2005 spring season. Vanderbilt finished the year at No. 8, followed by Clemson (10th), North Carolina (11th), Tennessee (18th), South Carolina (23rd), Wisconsin (34th), and Furman (58th).
