UNC Advances To All Six Singles Finals, Wins Two Doubles Flights

GREENVILLE, SC - The Tar Heels of North Carolina continued its success during day two of the Furman Fall Classic, going a perfect 10-0 in singles and doubles play. After winning all of their singles matches Friday, North Carolina repeated the effort today, sending a player to the championship match in each of the six draws.
The Tar Heels also enjoyed success in doubles capturing both the flight one and flight three championship. Aniela Mojzis and Kendall Cline knocked off Vanderbilt's Taka Bertrand and Amanda Fish 8-6 in flight one and in flight three Caitlin Collins teamed with Charlotte Tansill to down South Carolina's Laura Ganzer and Megan McGavock 8-3. Clemson's duo of Julie Coin and Romy Farah captured the flight two championship with a win over Fallon Koon and Miranda Gutierrez of South Carolina.
The host Lady Paladins ended the day with four total victories three coming in singles play. In flight five Lauren Osborne downed Caroline Ferrell of Vanderbilt 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 and Marti Morris defeated South Carolina's Justin Walsh 6-0, 6-1. Bonnie Baird advanced to the finals of flight five with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory over South Carolina's Fallon Koon. Furman's duo of Bonnie Baird and Lauren Osborne picked up the lone doubles victory on the day downing Middle Tennessee's Jacqui Williams and Emily Vest.
The Furman Fall Classic ends Sunday at the Mickel Tennis Center with the singles championships. Play begins at 9 am.
