Furman Announces 2004-05 MVP's at Annual Awards Banquet

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -
Senior women's tennis player Mary Neill Hagood ( A two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year, Hagood helped the Lady Paladin tennis team to four Southern Conference regular season titles, three SoCon tournament championships, and three NCAA appearances during her four-year career. In addition, she ends her career ranked second in all-time wins at Furman, second in singles victories, and first in doubles wins. As a psychology major, Hagood has compiled a 3.78 grade point average and is a member of the Psi Chi psychology honor society and Furman's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. She is also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, and the Special Olympics. The Elizabeth Blackwell Achievement Award goes to the senior female athlete with highest cumulative GPA, while the Student Athlete Achievement Award is voted on by the athletic staff and recognizes the Furman athlete - male or female - who most closely resembles the Furman ideal of excellence in the classroom, on the field of play, and in the community. Sophomore golfer Jenny Suh, a 2005 All-Region choice and National Golf Coaches Association Second Team All-America selection was selected to receive the Edna Hartness Female Athlete of the Year award. Suh won two collegiate individual titles in the 2004-05 season and is the reigning Southern Conference Player of the Year. Following is a complete list of Tuesday night's award winners.
