Hagood Named Southern Conference Player Of The Year

Spartanburg, SC - Furman's Mary Neill Hagood was named the Southern Conference Player of The Year for the second straight year on Thursday. Hagood went undefeated at No.1 singles and teamed with Caroline Bentley to go 8-1 at No.1 doubles. For their efforts Hagood and Bentley were named to the All-Conference First Team in doubles and Bentley garnered first team honors for her undefeated season in singles. Junior Marti Morris and Freshman Lauren Osborne also received All-Conference Second Team honors for their success in singles play.

Lady Paladin head coach Debbie Southern was awarded Southern Conference Coach of the Year for the third straight year after a perfect 10-0 conference record. Southern also lead her squad to a Southern Conference Tournament Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

On the men's side senior Allen Simmons earned All-Conference First Team honors for his play at No.1 singles. Simmons tallied an 8-1 record at No.1 with his only loss coming against East Tennessee State. Fellow Paladin Ben Pauluhn was named to the All-Conference Second Team after going 7-2 at No.2 singles.
