TULSA, Okla. - Furman women's tennis player Laura Gioia fell in the first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Singles Championship on Wednesday.

Gioia, a junior from Tampa, Fla., was defeated by sophomore Katrina Zheltova of Sacramento State in three sets.

Gioia won the first set by a score of 6-1, then dropped the next two by scores of 6-3 and 6-4, as Zheltova took the match to advance to the round of 32. She will face Sanaz Marand of North Carolina on Thursday.
