Furman Tennis Programs Set For Southern Conference Tournament

Greenville, SC - The Furman men's and women's tennis teams will travel to Charleston, SC on Friday for the Southern Conference Tournament. Each team received a first round bye with the Lady Paladins earning the No.1 seed after going 9-0 during the regular season and the Paladins the No.2 seed after an 8-1 regular season campaign.
The Lady Paladins, ranked 59th nationally, are looking to win their eighth Southern Conference Tournament Championship in the past nine years and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the seventh time in the past eight years. Along with their postseason success, the Furman women have also had great success against their Southern Conference during the regular season. The Lady Paladins have won seventy straight Southern Conference matches during the regular season and have only lost 11 total matches against Southern Conference opponents since Debbie Southern took over as head coach in 1984. The Furman net minders will take on the winner of the #8 Elon/#9 Chattanooga match on Friday, April 21 at 10:00 AM. This match will take place at the City of Charleston Farmfield Courts, with all successive matches taking place at the Earle Tennis Center on The Citadel campus.
The Furman men, ranked 74th nationally, are looking to capture their first Southern Conference Tournament Championship since 2001 and earn a NCAA Regional bid for the fourth time since the program has begun. The Paladins will take on the winner of the #7 Appalachian State/#10 UNC Greensboro match on Friday, April 21 at 12:30 PM. All of the Furman men's matches will take place at the Earle Tennis Center on The Citadel campus.
