Furman's Mary Neill Hagood Named SoCon Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Spartanburg, SC - Mary Neill Hagood has been named the SoCon Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 12.

Hagood, a senior from Charleston, SC, recorded four SoCon wins during the week, putting away all over her opponents in straight sets. Hagood started her week with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Rachel Magory of the College of Charleston on April 5. The next day, Hagood defeated Georgia Southern's Stephanie Tyrell, 6-4, 7-5. On April 9, Hagood kept to her winning ways as she knocked off Trish Hanson from Western Carolina, 6-1, 6-0. Hagood closed out her week on April 10 with a 6-2, 6-1 over Sandie Knight of East Tennessee State. Hagood is 13-6 on the year, posting a perfect 8-0 Southern Conference record at the number one spot.
