Furman's Laura Gioia Honored As SoCon Women's Tennis Player Of The Week

Spartanburg, SC - Furman's Laura Gioia has been named Southern Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending Mar. 13.

The freshman from Tampa, FL finished the week with a 2-0 record at No.1 singles and helped the Paladins get off to a 2-0 start in league play. In singles play, Gioia beat Elon's Evin Prelec 6-1,6-0 and defeated UNC Greensboro's Lisa Suggs 7-5, 6-1.Gioia improved her overall singles record 5-7 with her two victories this week.She also went unbeaten at No.1 doubles this week playing alongside teammate Marti Morris.

Furman returns to action this week to host Georgia Tech on Wednesday, Mar. 15.
