CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Laura Gioia defeated Laura Reichert of UNC 6-0, 6-0 to take third place on the final day of the Kitty Harrison Invitational.

In the seventh-place match, Austin Smith (UNC) defeated Jessica Preeg 6-3, 6-2. For eleventh, Caren Seenauth (Miami) topped Monica Arguello 6-4, 6-1.

In the singles consolation matches, Lauren Osborne won over Jelena Durisic (UNC) 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (7), and Jennifer Betts fell to Jessica Keener of Marshall 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles action, the Furman teams faced off against Marshall. All three teams were defeated, Gioia/Manojlovic by Schwartz/Soor (8-6), Arguello/Osborne by Kashelkina/Keener (8-5), and Betts/Preeg by Lock/Raich (8-5).

With the conclusion of the tournament, the women's tennis team has completed their fall play. The Lady Paladins will begin spring competition on Jan. 25, 2008.
