Women's Tennis Completes Second Day of Play at Kitty Harrison Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The women's tennis team completed their second day of play at the Kitty Harrison Invitational on Saturday with doubles play against teams from Miami and North Carolina and singles play against Kentucky.

In doubles play, Gioia/Manojlovic def. Farah/Seenauth (Miami) 9-8 (6) and Arguello/Osborne def. Smith/Tsang (UNC) 9-8 in the Lady Paladins' only doubles wins of the day. Betts/Preeg lost both doubles matches of the day, to Breeson/Sabacinski of William and Mary (8-4) and Fanjoy/Jurewitz of UNC.

Arguello/Osborne also fell to Eichkorn/Vallerdu (Miami) 8-4 and Gioia/Manojlovic lost to Durisic/Grabinski of UNC 8-6.

In singles action, junior Laura Gioia defeated Sarah Wostmann (UK) 1-6, 7-6 (6), 1-0 (7). Lauren Osborne fell to Lauren Meier (UK) 6-4, 6-1, while freshman Jennifer Betts was also defeated by Alaina Trgovich (UK) 6-2, 6-3. Fellow freshman Monica Arguello topped Carolina Escamilla (UK) 5-2, 4-6, 1-0 (5) and Jessica Preeg won over Christina Johnston of UK, 7-5, 6-3.

The Lady Paladins will finish play at the Kitty Harrison Invitational on Sunday.
