TALLAHASSEE, FLA. -- The Furman women's tennis team opened play on the first day of the Seminole Invitational Friday with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles.

In doubles action, the Paladin duo of juniors Monica Arguello and Jennifer Betts defeated Doerfler and Rodriquez of Central Florida 9-8(2), while senior Jessica Preeg and freshman Olivia Maurice combined to defeat Makarychevea and Terpko of Mississippi State 8-2. Betts also won her first round of singles, defeating Zok of South Florida 6-2, 6-1.

The second day of the tournament will begin at 9:00 a.m., featuring the final round of doubles and the second round of singles.
