CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Junior Laura Gioia was the lone Lady Paladin to advance past the round of 64 Friday at the ITA Regional Championships in Chapel Hill.

Freshman Monica Arguello was defeated by Lauren Reichert (UNC) 6-2, 6-2, Lauren Osborne lost to Kulikova (Wake Forest) 6-2, 6-2, and Jessica Preeg fell to Jelena Durisic (UNC) 6-3, 6-1.

Junior Gioia topped Erica Zabkar of UNC Greensboro in the round of 64 by scores of 6-1, 6-0. She then advanced to defeat Samantha Orlin (Tennessee) 6-2, 6-0 in the round of 32 and Jelena Durisic (UNC) 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals.

All three Lady Paladins doubles teams were also defeated this weekend. Maojlovic/Preeg lost to top seeded Mijacika/van Adrichem (Clemson) 8-1 in the round of 32, and Arguello/Tomory fell to Bertrand/Newman (Vanderbilt) 8-1.

Also in the round of 32, the team of Gioia/Osborne was victorious over Behr/Eblen (UNC Greensboro) 8-0. The team then lost to Granson/Marig, the No. 5-seeded team from Duke, 8-3 in the round of 16.
