Lady Paladins Shut Out Appalachian State 7-0

Boone, NC - The 75th ranked Furman women's tennis team finished undefeated in the Southern Conference for the sixth straight season after a 7-0 shut out over Appalachian State Sunday afternoon at the Bob Light Tennis Complex. With the win the Lady Paladins finish the regular season 19-3, 10-0 in the Southern Conference dropping the Mountaineers to 7-11, 2-7 in conference play.

Furman took the early 1-0 lead winning all three doubles matches by a score of 8-2. The Lady Paladins went on to win all six singles matches for their 11th shut out this year. At No.1 Mary Neill Hagood downed Lyndsey Free 6-1, 6-4 and at No.2 Caroline Bentley finished the regular season 21-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Salem Kirven. In flight three Shannon Moore held on for a 7-5, 5-7, 10-5 win over Victoria Moody while Lauren Osborne cruised past Alexandra Grate 6-0, 6-0 at No.4. In flight five Bonnie Baird ousted Ann Pierce 6-0, 6-1 and in the last match at No.6 Natasa Manojlovic downed Jill Parsons 6-2, 6-2.

The Lady Paladins resume play at the Southern Conference tournament beginning Thursday in Charleston, SC.
