Lady Paladins Down Georgia Southern 7-0

STATESBORO, Georgia - Furman's 70th ranked Lady Paladin tennis team ran its winning streak to 13 with a 7-0 victory over Georgia Southern Saturday in Statesboro.

Furman swept doubles action to take a 1-0 lead entering singles competition. Caroline Bentley downed Ciara Finucane 6-0, 6-1, then Lauren Osborne topped Heather Reynolds 6-1, 6-2 and Bonnie Baird defeated Kim Wollett 6-1, 6-3 to give the Lady Paladins the four points needed for a win.

Furman completed the sweep when Marti Morris posted a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Szilvia Zsakay at No. 4, Jacqueline Eckert downed Charlotte Bruneteaux 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3, and Mary Neill Hagood pulled out a 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 1 over Stephanie Tyrell.

With the win the Lady Paladins improve to 16-3 overall and 7-0 in Southern Conference action. Furman will face the College of Charleston Sunday in an 11 a.m. match in Charleston, S.C.
