Lady Paladins Record Second Straight Shut Out With 7-0 Win Over Georgia Southern

Greenville, SC - The Furman Lady Paladins recorded their second straight shut out Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 win over the Lady Eagles of Georgia Southern. With the win Furman improved their record to 9-6, 4-0 in conference play, dropping Georgia Southern to 4-10, 1-3 in conference. The win was also the 65th straight regular season conference victory for the Lady Paladins.
Furman took the early 1-0 lead with wins in all three doubles matches. The Lady Paladins used the early momentum to capture all six singles matches to secure the shut out. In flight one Laura Gioia downed Szilvia Zsakay 6-2, 6-2 while Marti Morris fought off a first set loss to win her flight two match over Molly Maddox 4-6, 7-6(5), 10-6. At No.3 Lauren Osborne hit her way to a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Lauren Wolken and Shannon Moore downed Kim Wollett 6-4, 6-1 at No.4. In her flight five match Bonnie Baird cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Heather Reynolds and in the final match at No.6 Lauren Tomory posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Shea Huxtable.
The Lady Paladins return to action on Sunday with a noon match against Samford at the Mickel Tennis Center.
