Lady Paladins Down UT Chattanooga 6-1

Greenville, SC - The Furman women's tennis team picked up their second Southern Conference win of the season, downing UT Chattanooga 6-1 Sunday afternoon at the Mickel Tennis Center. The win moves the Lady Paladins to 9-3 on the year, and adds to their conference regular season win streak which stands at fifty-three matches. With the loss the Lady Mocs fall to 0-14 on the year, 0-7 in conference play.

Furman opened the match with strong doubles play taking all three doubles matches, giving them the early 1-0 advantage. Furman quickly sealed the match victory with wins in the last three slots. At No.4 Marti Morris hit her way to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Emily Harpe 6-2, 6-0, while in slots five and six Lauren Osborne downed Christy Fazio and Bonnie Baird eased by Bonnie Adams both by a score of 6-0, 6-0. At No.1 Furman's Mary Neill Hagood ousted Lindsey Ballard 6-3, 6-2, and in flight two Shannon Moore defeated Kristie Wilson 6-3, 6-0. Chattanooga picked up a win in the No.3 slot with Bethany Everett downing Jacqueline Eckert 7-6(5), 2-6, 10-7 making the final score 6-1 in favor of the Lady Paladins.

The Lady Paladins finish off their five match homestand on Tuesday with a match against Elon at 2 PM.
