Greenville, S.C. - The Furman women's tennis team swept its second straight Southern Conference opponent, defeating the visiting UNC Greensboro Spartans 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at Mickel Tennis Center. The Lady Paladins (5-8, 2-0) have won 72 straight league matches dating back to 1998-99. UNCG (5-6, 1-2) dropped its third consecutive match, including its second straight SoCon bout.

Furman won the doubles point with victories at all three doubles flights. Laura Gioia and Natasa Manojlovic improved to 9-4 on the season with an 8-3 win over Arielle VonStrolley and Erica Zabkar at the top position. At flight two, Lauren Osborne and Jacqueline Eckert have won four of their last five matches including an 8-2 defeat of UNCG's Jess Eblen and Valerie Behr. Lisa Bornt-Davis and Lauren Tomory also earned a win at number three.

The Lady Paladins rolled to victory in all six singles matches, dropping only 11 total games. At number five, Tomory shutout Behr 6-0, 6-0. The sophomore has yet to lose a game in conference action this year. Osborne has won four straight matches, following up her win over a ranked opponent from Wake Forest yesterday with a 6-2, 6-1 tally over Zabkar at number two. None of the Lady Paladins dropped more than three games in her respective match.

Furman will continue league play with a road match against Wofford on Wednesday, March 21 at 2:30 p.m.
