No. 18 Wake Forest Too Much For Furman Women's Tennis

Winston Salem, N.C. - The Furman women's tennis team had its three-match winning streak snapped with a 6-1 loss to the No. 18 Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday afternoon at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center. The match was the Lady Paladins' (4-8) fifth against a top 50 opponent this year. Wake Forest (8-3) won its second consecutive match after dropping decisions to No. 12 Miami and No. 27 Florida State.
Furman lost all three doubles matches to head into singles play down a point. In singles action, junior Lauren Osborne picked up a big win with a 7-6, 6-3 victory over No. 100 Ashlee Davis at position two. Osborne has won her last three matches. Senior Bonnie Baird and junior Natasa Manojlovic took each of their matches to three sets at flight three and five, respectively. Baird fell 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 to Jerman and Manojlovic could not overcome Christine Simpson, dropping a 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 decision.
The Lady Paladins will be back in action tomorrow as they challenge Southern Conference foe UNC Greensboro at 1 p.m. Furman won its first league match against Elon, 7-0. The Lady Paladins have not lost a conference match since 1998-99, a streak of 71 consecutive matches.
